People who bash others for having an alicorn oc and calling it a “mary-sue” are silly! What makes an oc a mary sue is the OC’s personality, backstory, talent, etc.. If an oc is fitting as an alicorn, then I don’t see a problem with them.

No, Alicorn OC’s are not okay. There are only three known Alicorns in Equstria. Being an Alicorn is like “ooooh god i can’t choose between a horn or a pair of wings”. You know what my OC is? An earth pony. I always get messages saying shit like “oh earth ponies suck d00d, be a pegasus”, and I’m usually like “fuck off bro, everyone is either a pegasus or a unicorn, and people who have alicorns don’t even fit into this conversation” asdfghjkl I don’t even know where I’m going with this, this is a very unorganized rant of mine.

It’s just that no, I don’t have anything against you, I follow people like Saeth or Winterflake, because they have a good personality, but when people don’t pull it off or something (don’t even get me started with the whole story with Nix…), it makes me want to punch a baby.

I have to agree. Alicorns are supposed to be almost almighty, and therefore they’re WAY too important. I can’t name ANY examples when an alicorn OC actually fit. Galaxiour was kind of good, but not enough. Lumina and Relena could as well be earth ponies, and I’m following them because they were around since forever. Nightmare Moon’s OC foals are borderline examples - just because they are not in full power yet.

And yes, my OC is a hippogriff EXACTLY because I couldn’t choose between wings and horn. But the fact his’s unable to fit anywhere is kind of his shtick, and I keep him underpowered.

(( I can’t remember a single time she used her alicorn powers. Actually, I can’t remember anything from before Relena got the habit of making cookies. =\  NMM did it three times over the course of her story (creating Nightsky Melody, making Arcel immortal and saving Pink Avenger). All three times had long time consequences, but it has been done carefully, so I don’t consider it to be story-breaking. ))

She did use her power over spirals at several points in time.

Just never the more powerful implementations of it.))
